After more than a year of launching in the Chinese market at the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show, the new generation Beijing (BAIC) X55 has officially appeared in Southeast Asia, starting with the Malaysian market.
Beijing X55 for the Malaysian market is distributed in two versions: Standard and Premium, selling prices are about 120,000 RM (about 651 million VND) and 140,000 RM (about 760 million VND) respectively.
This price is significantly lower than competitors in the same segment such as Honda CR-V (price from 159,900 – 195,000 RM) and Mazda CX-5 (price from 144,469 – 188,760 RM).
Notably, the Beijing X55 sold in Malaysia is not a complete car imported from China but assembled at a factory located in Melaka, Malaysia.
Overall, the Beijing X55 has length x width x height parameters of 4,620 x 1,886 x 1,680 (mm) respectively, and a wheelbase of 2,735 mm.
This size is on par with C-size SUV models such as Honda CR-V (4,691 x 1,886 x 1,681/1,691 mm) or Mazda CX-5 (4,590 x 1,845 x 1,680 mm).
In addition, the X55 is also equipped with a rear multi-link independent suspension system, a typical feature of C-size SUVs.
Regarding exterior design, Beijing X55 has a modern and youthful style.
Although it is a gasoline car model, the X55 possesses a feature commonly found in electric car models.
In addition, the X55 is also equipped with a large central air vent, embossed ribs on the bonnet, hidden door handles, electric rearview mirror with integrated glass defroster, 18-inch alloy rims, split roof spoiler.
Inside the cockpit, the Beijing X55 possesses a minimalist and modern interior space.
The car is equipped with a sporty beveled steering wheel, digital dashboard and central touch screen all the same size of 10 inches.
Comfort equipment on the standard version includes a leather-wrapped steering wheel, PU-covered seats, 6-way power front seats, 6-speaker sound system, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, rear air vents, and electric charger.
The premium version adds leather seats, heated and cooled front seats, an 8-speaker sound system and interior lighting, providing a more comfortable and relaxing experience for passengers.
Under the hood, the Beijing X55 in the Malaysian market uses a 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine, 1.5 liter capacity, producing a maximum capacity of 188 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and maximum torque.
This power is transmitted to the front axle through a 7-speed wet dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The safety equipment of the Beijing X55 is quite comprehensive, including a 360-degree camera, pre-collision warning system, adaptive cruise control system, lane departure warning and blind spot warning.
However, features such as lane keeping assist, lane center assist and automatic emergency braking are not equipped for this model.
This new generation Beijing X55 model is also expected by many customers in Vietnam.
